When a friend's mother was hospitalized.
Aunty,
Your daughter is a dear and now I can imagine where it comes from.
Steeped in the secrets of the cosmos, in touch with the ultimate one.
Forces of nature, some of us, who are full of devout and dynamic living,
I hear you are unwell and pray fervently you once again know what means thriving.
We all go through our ups and downs, and they say our final preoccupations
Will define the trajectory of our next births, so think of bringing joy to the nations.
Hold my hand and tell me there is no regret, no sadness and no fear.
Just a faith in the divine plan unfolding, to which you have been dear.
I think of the Garuda Purana often, not only to comfort those who don't know
Of the process of rebirth, but to remember the depths to which we can grow,
If we but live in the lap of Mahakala, and remember the minute
Detail to which we have co scripted our lives. Who can ever refute
The tender marks of the hand of Ma Shakti that she leaves on our face?
Proud as a mother watches her baby graciously finish her race.
Enough of all that gruesome talk, just wake up and continue to heal,
As you remember to be your beautiful, blissful self, celebrating all you feel.
Remember all of humanity is interconnected, that God loves all big and small.
Remember we love you so, so waken to a new day, a person grand and tall.
The trick to a life well lived is to enjoy every moment to the full.
Then even the seeming niggles will fall away and we will have lived lives cool.
